Mobility Issues

Mobility issues are very common, and do not have to be an impediment in the workplace. 52% of disabled people reported having issues with mobility*.

If you are struggling with your mobility at work, there may be some adjustments that you and your employer can make to make working easy again. Work with your employer to find the adjustments that are suitable, or ask them to refer you to Occupational Health for a workplace assessment where we will make recommendations for your disability taking your workstation and job role into account.

Reasonable adjustments to your working environment for your mobility issues may include (where possible):

  • Working on the ground floor or near a lift
  • Installing ramps for wheelchair users
  • Changing equipment, for example a special keyboard for arthritis
  • Allowing an employee who becomes disabled a phased return to work, flexible hours or part-time working
  • Offering employees training opportunities
